Echoes Between Us was a two-part exhibition I curated at Batsford Gallery in September 2025, focusing on quiet emotional resonances across personal, generational, and urban narratives. Featuring works by Mengzhu Li and Jiaxin Chen, the show reflected my curatorial interest in slow affect, cultural memory, and the spaces where intimacy becomes visual.

In Mother’s Daughter, Mengzhu Li examines the fragile, layered dynamics of East Asian mother–daughter relationships in the wake of her father’s passing. As curator, I shaped the spatial experience to support the work’s emotional tone—emphasizing stillness, proximity, and reflection. Through photography, text, and minimal installation, the gallery became a meditative site for familial tenderness, regret, and generational echo.

Jiaxin Chen’s City Within a City: Folded Lights of Hong Kong explored the visual skin of a city caught between density and disappearance. Her use of Yongchun paper-weaving, an intangible heritage technique, transformed photographs into woven surfaces that shimmered like digital pixels and hand-touched fiber. I worked with Chen to sequence her work into a 24-hour visual cycle—tracing Hong Kong’s breath through shifts in light, shadow, and mood.

For me, this exhibition was about letting silence speak.

I was less interested in constructing explanatory frameworks and more drawn to curating a space of resonance—where the viewer might encounter presence, pause, and possibility.

Echoes Between Us became a soft but intentional act of listening, to memory, to grief, to citylight, and to the generational textures that shape how we carry the past into the present.
